New Project Bicycle! 1958-61 JC-Higgins

A couple weeks ago i picked up a well loved JC-Higgins Bicycle. This bike has been sitting in a barn around Berthoud Colorado for years.

The bike is a City style frame or now commonly known as a “Women’s Frame”  or a Step through frame.  I am told by the vintage bike archives that it is a 1958-1961 model. they were not able to further nail it down without more $$.  J.C. Higgins was a line of bikes that were offered by Sears. they were known for all of their gadgets and other pieces that were added on. This one my guess is a “Standard Model” it looks to be original and does not look to ever had the tank or headlight on it.

This bike has on the right side a nice patina of rust. if i was a Rat Rodder then i would be excited.. but i’m not. my plans are to have it repainted the original colors of Blue and White. the rims are in pretty good shape and need blasting and repainting white with a red stripe. the rear wheel has numerous broken spokes that will also be replaced when it i rebuilt.
